About the opportunity



A well-established multidisciplinary psychology practice in Brisbane CBD is looking to welcome an experienced Adult Consultant Psychiatrist.

This is an opportunity to join an established practice with existing referral demand, strong administrative support and a collaborative team environment, without needing to build your own practice infrastructure from scratch.



The role can start at 1-2 days per week, with flexibility to increase as the caseload develops.



The opportunity



As the practice's first psychiatrist, you will have the opportunity to build a consistent adult psychiatry caseload while working alongside an established team of psychologists.



The practice currently receives approximately 35 new enquiries per week, providing an existing source of potential referrals. Additional referral relationships with local GP clinics will also be developed, with targeted advertising available where required.



An ideal longer-term caseload would be approximately 6–7 clients per day, depending on your availability, preferences and referral volume.

Current consulting availability is primarily Mondays and Fridays, with Thursdays expected to become available later in the year.



Clinical work



You will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management for adult clients aged 18+.

Presentations may include:

• ADHD, including assessment and management
• Depression and mood disorders
• Anxiety disorders
• Bipolar disorder
• PTSD and trauma-related presentations
• OCD
• Personality disorders
• Other common adult mental health presentations

Experience with autism assessment and eating disorders would also be highly valued.

The psychiatrist will work collaboratively with psychologists and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated, evidence-based care.



Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments for adult clients
• Provide diagnosis and clinical formulation
• Develop and review treatment plans
• Prescribe and monitor medication where clinically indicated
• Prepare clinical reports and correspondence for GPs, specialists and other relevant stakeholders
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical records
• Communicate and collaborate with the practice's psychologists
• Participate in case discussions where appropriate
• Maintain compliance with Medicare, AHPRA, Medical Board and privacy requirements
• Contribute to appropriate clinical governance and quality improvement activities

About the practice



The practice has a strong focus on creating a supportive environment where clinicians can focus on delivering quality care rather than managing the administrative demands of running a private practice.



You'll be joining a sociable and collaborative team, with psychologists working alongside one another and access to experienced administrative and intake support.



The clinic has a dedicated intake function that responds to enquiries promptly and helps convert referrals into appointments, while the broader administration team manages bookings and other practice requirements.



About you



We are looking for an experienced psychiatrist who is calm, collaborative and patient-focused, and who enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will ideally have:

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), or eligibility for Fellowship
• Specialist registration with AHPRA and the Medical Board of Australia
• Current professional indemnity insurance
• A Medicare provider number, or eligibility to obtain one
• Experience working with adult mental health presentations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• An interest in collaborative care alongside psychologists
• Experience in private practice would be advantageous
• ADHD assessment and management experience would be highly regarded
• Telehealth experience would be advantageous
